The F-35 Flight Simulator Training Facility at the Alabama Air National Guard’s 187th Fighter Wing supports the base’s new F-35 mission and houses four state-of-the-art, high-fidelity full mission simulators provided by Lockheed Martin. This facility is a centerpiece of a comprehensive redesign for the Dannelly Airbase, which includes site-wide master planning. It stands as one of the most advanced training facilities and Air National Guard bases in the country.
The design process involved meticulous coordination between multiple parties and manufacturers to ensure the facility meets the stringent requirements for the multi-million-dollar simulation technology tailored to the 5th generation F-35 fighter jets. The Secure Access Program Facility (SAPF) integrates advanced physical and electronic communications security measures that exceed ICD-705 requirements. Additionally, the facility includes three independent Compartmentalized Areas, allowing for simultaneous training missions at different security levels.
