On Saturday, September 21, 2024, Troy University administrators and several notable guests celebrated the opening of the new Center for Materials & Manufacturing Sciences Building.
The Center for Materials & Manufacturing Sciences marks a significant milestone in Troy University’s expanding research capabilities. As the first facility of its kind on campus, it provides state-of-the-art workspaces, offices, and laboratories, all designed to foster innovation and collaboration.
The building’s two-story lobby, welcoming visitors from the western side, serves as a gateway to cutting-edge research, particularly in the new polymer research program in partnership with KW Plastics of Troy, Alabama. The design seamlessly integrates Troy University’s iconic architectural aesthetic, creating a blend of tradition and innovation. Faculty working within the facility are directly engaged in industry-driven projects, enhancing both their research impact and professional growth.
Notable guests at the ceremony included Chancellor and Mrs. Jack Hawkins, Jr., City of Troy Mayor Jason Reeves, members of the Board of Trustees, State Representative Marcus Paramore, and a host of administrators, faculty, and community members.
