Design proposal that sought to rejuvenate a previously neglected segment of Montgomery’s urban landscape. Located at the lower end of Dexter Avenue, opposite the State Capitol, our proposal envisioned this block to encompass not only the library and Children’s Museum but also to incorporate leasable commercial space on a significant portion of its ground level, with additional offices or residential units above. The design strategy involved breaking down the scale of the block into smaller, incremental developments that would harmonize with the surrounding downtown context while introducing a diverse mix of functions, thereby revitalizing its role as the city’s cultural hub.
